Homemade Pizza

Basic recipe:
-Bread Flour (I use half whole wheat pastry flour and half bread flour) 3 3/4 cupssmall_pizzapizza
-Instant dry yeast 2 1/2 tsp
-Table salt 3/4 tsp
-Sugar 3/4 tsp (I use raw sugar)
-Room temp water 1 1/3 cups.. (I  usually need more)
-Olive oil for the prep of pizza  (hands and baking sheet)

In a large bowel put all ingredients in then add water... mix with a wood spoon for 30 secs... dough will be a little wet- cover with a hand towel and let rise 2 hours...
When ready to make, flour hands or oil them and pull pieces off to make baguettes or pull pieces off and press flat to make pizza crust be sure to put oil down first and oven has to be heated 475 -500 depending on oven.. I use 475- my oven is hot! Cook until done pizza is done
**Dough can be frozen when done rising **

Pizza dough or make Baguettes for garlic bread -
Add seed's, flax, sunflower & sesame... for baguettes' I like them all in there!!
-For pizza dough I also add garlic powder and oregano and the kids love it! (my little creation)

* This recipe for pizza crust is based on Jim Lahey's Cookbook -My Bread-*

Toppings
-Homemade pizza sauce or a can of store bought pizza sauce, fresh or diced tomatoes
-Fresh chopped veggies and herbs- like spinach, red peppers, mushrooms and olives
-Parmesan cheese and part skim mozzarella, fresh balls or shredded
-Meat's are optional, Prosciutto and Pancetta are some different tasty options that take it up a notch

This is a great family activity- The kids love to make their own creations, after dough is made and rolled out, place all the fix-ins in bowels and let them go to town. Bake until bubbly and enjoy... Remember to be creative and anything goes whatever you like put it on there!
